A: Founded in 1949 in Smithville, Texas, Sharp Propane is a leading service provider of residential and commercial propane systems, providing customers a safe and reliable energy source that fits the way they live and work.
With our Complete Care® service, we provide comfort you can count on with a steady, accurate propane supply and a commitment to your comfort and peace of mind. All Complete Care customers are covered by our Always There™ Guarantee – which means that should any problem ever arise with your propane service, give us a call and we’ll be right there to fix it – day or night, seven days a week, 365 days a year – with no extra service call fees. With Easy Pay™ billing, our customers enjoy the convenience of predictable monthly billing, so there are never any surprises on your bill or in your tank.
A: Smart Monitoring is a sophisticated computer model that we use to estimate your tank level based on your past usage and the actual weather in your area. When your tank reaches a predefined threshold (usually about 20-30% full), we automatically schedule you for a delivery.
But before we fill your tank, we record the actual tank level and compare it. These continual adjustments ensure the accuracy of our forecasts. This means that our system gets more accurate the longer you are a Complete Care® customer and your tank only gets filled when you need propane.A: As one of the most trusted names in propane, Sharp has been providing safe, reliable and convenient propane energy solutions to Texans for more than 60 years.
At Sharp we understand that service is about much more than delivering propane gas to your tank. Our Propane Professionals go beyond the basic service requirements, helping to set higher industry standards of safety, reliability and customer care to always put your comfort first.
It means we’re always available, ready to answer your questions, watching your tank so you don’t have to, and measuring our success by your satisfaction.A: Our Builder Care® program involves much more than just setting a tank. Our job is to make yours easier by saving you time and money. We understand that thousands of details affect the cost, timing, and eventual success of new construction projects. With Sharp’s Builder Care, the propane system won’t be one you’ll need to worry about.

A: High efficiency propane appliances are an integral part of today’s green homes. Heating a home with propane produces significantly less greenhouse gas emissions than heating a home with electricity.
While electric appliances don’t emit carbon dioxide directly at the home, the electricity that powers those appliances is produced primarily from coal-fired power plants. In fact, a high-efficiency propane furnace produces 50% less greenhouse gas emissions than a high efficiency heat pump over its lifetime.*
Once installed, high-efficiency propane appliances are less expensive to operate than comparable electric appliances, especially during colder than normal winters.

(800)-932-4315 or email us at service@sharppropane.comA: No. We never top off a tank just because it’s convenient for us. Using our sophisticated Smart Monitoring computer modeling, Sharp carefully monitors your propane usage, and will route a truck to fill your tank only when you’re getting low (usually when the tank is about 20-30% full) or when we identify a significant need due to a change in local weather.
We believe in over-delivering on service, not gallons.A: Sharp’s thorough Safety Check inspection for new Complete Care™ customers (or actual usage data from our Smart Monitoring technology for existing customers) allows our experienced service technicians to calculate your estimated annual usage. We’ll then divide your annual estimated propane usage and tank rental fee into even, predictable monthly Easy Pay payments.
Each year, we’ll recalculate your balance, and any remaining balance or credit can be rolled over into the next year’s monthly payment.
A: Yes and yes. We can custom install an above-ground or underground tank on your property. Whether you have a new home or want to replace an existing tank, we have services to help you plan and successfully install your tank onsite. We also offer cathodic protection to prevent your tank from rusting or corroding over time.
A: Treat all propane gas odors seriously. Any odors may indicate a dangerous situation. If you think you smell propane in or around your home or building, immediately follow these procedures:
Propane is naturally odorless. An odorant (most always ethyl mercaptan) is added so that propane leaks can be easily detected. If you have a situation in which someone in the household may have limited ability to smell propane. You may want to consider purchasing a propane gas alarm. An alarm may provide an extra measure of warning but is not a substitute for regular propane system and appliance inspection.
A: Yes. Sharp Propane provides 24-hour call and response, but if it is necessary to shut off your propane supply before Sharp or an emergency response department arrives, you should know the proper shut-off procedure. During our 7-point system Safety Check, our Complete Care customers receive in-person instruction from our propane professionals on propane safety procedures, such as how to detect the odor of propane and how to properly shut off the propane supply tank.
If you are not sure how to shut off the gas supply from your tank or cylinder, contact us for instructions. A qualified service technician or delivery driver can show you how to turn the propane supply off at your next delivery or scheduled service inspection.A: No, once the propane is shut off, it should be turned back on by a certified Sharp Propane service technician who will inspect and leak-test the system, then re-establish service.
A: Yes, you should keep your tank painted and rust-free. Help improve tank safety and performance and extend the life of the tank by making sure the metal surfaces are painted in a light color to reflect sunlight away from the tank. Dark or rusty tanks may absorb heat causing an increase in pressure, unnecessarily stressing system valves and fixtures. If you rent your tank from Sharp, we provide tank maintenance such as surface repainting and parts replacement as part of our Complete Care service. To learn more, contact us at 1-800-932-4315.
7 Point Safety Check
Our 7-point system Safety Check is conducted by a highly trained and certified Propane Professional and includes a thorough inspection of all components of your propane system. We will also conduct a visual inspection of your appliances and let you know if further inspection by an appliance expert is warranted (an annual inspection of all propane appliances by an appliance expert is recommended for all customers.)
A: Yes, we can safely install an underground propane tank. Sharp will help assess your situation and help you find the most appropriate tank.
Underground propane tanks have been used for decades and have a proven safety record. While parts of the process can be tackled by a do-it-yourselfer (excavation, purchase of fill, backfill, and landscaping), other parts of the process should be managed only by certified propane professionals (tank installation and leveling, cathodic protection, gas piping, safety check, and placing the system into service). Call Sharp Propane at (800) 932-4315 or ask your builder to contact one of our Propane Professionals.A: Reducing your propane usage and overall energy consumption can help save you money and helps the environment.
