Winter Propane Preparation

With the arrival of colder temperatures, now is the time to think about getting ready for the upcoming winter season. Sharp has a number of ways to ensure that your propane home will be warm this winter, both with our Complete Care package and our Easy Pay system. However, there are additional steps you can take within your home to make sure you are ready for winter. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you prepare for the colder season:

  • Take a look at your tank and trim or clear any brush or obstructions so drivers have a clear path to deliver your propane.
  • If your water heater is not in an insulated heated area, wrap it with a thermal wrap to preserve water warmth and save energy.
  • Check weather stripping around doors and windows to prevent drafts.
  • Have your furnace inspected and change the HVAC system filters for maximum efficiency.
  • In a two story home, utilize programmable thermostats and set the upstairs to a lower temperature. Due to rising heat, you may not have to use the upstairs unit at all.
  • Add ceiling fans to high ceilings – fans can help circulate warm air lower.
  • Consider a propane fireplace – they’re more efficient than wood burning models and distribute heat more evenly throughout the room.
  • Limit use of high–propane usage appliances like pool and spa heaters to conserve propane and energy.

Sharp takes additional steps to make sure you are prepared for the winter. With our Complete Care package, we’ll monitor your usage and deliver propane when (and only when) you need it, so you’ll never have to worry about running out. And with Easy Pay, your bill is monthly and predictable so you’ll never be shocked by your statement.
